Standards "Small Voices"
Small-business concerns are not being heard in the standard-setting process.

Tax Forum "Scheming & Dreaming"
In Blair T. Longley (plaintiff) v. Her Majesty the Queen (defendant) [Docket 90/1523], Revenue Canada said that Longley's political contribution tax credit scheme violates the spirit of the Income Tax Act. But it had to pay Longley damages for not informing him there was nothing in the legislation to prevent the scheme.

Double Click "Less is More"
LCD monitors are more attractive and give you more room on your desktop to boot than your old CRT. But they're not perfect, so be informed before you buy.

Legal Notes "Get it in Writing"
Agreements that don't make it onto paper may lead to unnecessary litigation should parties fall out. In Mancha Consultants Ltd. v. Canada Square Development Corp. [1998] 42 BLR (2d) 289], the Ontario Court of Appeal decided that Canada Square did breach a verbal agreement and sided with Mancha.

Tax Strategy "To Your Health"
Small-business owners can get a tax break when covering their medical expenses with a private health services plan.
