Strategic Planning

The main goal of CGA Yukon this year will be to develop a strategic plan to raise the profile of the designation and to increase student enrolment, says Robert Fendrick, the affiliate president for 2003-04.

A CGA since 1991, Fendrick is currently the director of administrative services with the City of Whitehorse. Raised in Whitehorse, Fendrick stayed in Vancouver after university to begin his career with BC Hydro in 1982. After several years with Hydro, Fendrick moved on to own and operate a computer company that employed 20 people. He received his designation in 1991, and returned to Whitehorse in 1998.

Fendrick holds a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and a masters of public administration from the University of Alaska Southeast.

"I began my CGA as a requirement of employment with BC Hydro and I believe strongly in promoting the designation," he says. "I decided to get very involved with the Association to make a difference," he adds.

Fendrick has been involved with the Association at the affiliate level for the last five years as vice-president of CGA Yukon. He now serves as the National Board Member from Yukon.

His spouse, Wendy Fendrick, is also a CGA. The couple met while they were both working for BC Hydro, and have been married for 19 years. They have two sons — Stuart, 15, and Kurtis, 12.

Serving on the board with Fendrick are: Michael McKay, CGA, vice-president; Ladi Millard, CGA, director of Education Services; Ludmila Ayzenberg, treasurer; and Clarence Timmons, CGA, Paule Senechal, CGA, and Cheryl Horoscoe, CGA, governors.
