CRA Improves Online Options
FROM:
NOV-DEC 2004 ISSUE
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) recognizes just how important time is for busy tax professionals and their clients. Online,
self-serve options are quick, convenient, and secure solutions tax professionals can count on.
One Number, Two Services
Tax professionals will be happy to hear that the CRA has recently streamlined the filing process to offer a “one-stop” registration service for users of EFILE
On-Line and Corporation Internet Filing. If you are already registered with
EFILE On-Line, you can use your EFILE
On-Line number and password to file both individual and corporation income tax returns over the Internet.
Corporation Internet Filing is a convenient, easy-to-use, and secure filing option that allows you to file corporation income tax returns directly to the CRA using the Internet. Tax professionals and their clients will benefit from faster processing and refunds, less paper, mailing, and courier costs.

Bigger is Better
Beginning in January 2005, businesses that use payroll software to generate T4 information returns will be able to transfer a larger number of returns electronically. The CRA has improved the T4 File Transfer application to accept up to 499 T4 information slips, rather than the current maximum of 70.

Payments Made Easy
The CRA has teamed up with financial institutions across the country to ensure making payments to the CRA is a simple and convenient process for tax professionals and their clients. If you or your clients owe money to the CRA, submitting a payment can be a stress-free experience.
How does it work? If your financial institution offers an online bill payment service and you have an Internet connection, you can pay the CRA anywhere, anytime. Contact your financial institution to see what types of business payments they accept online, and then register for the ones you want. It’s that easy.
