Best Browsers
FROM: JUL-AUG 2005 ISSUE | BY ROBIN DAY
I was recently interrupted by a message from my friends at Microsoft, warning me that if I did not download the latest Internet Explorer patch, I would face a plague of viruses and enough spyware to put fear in the heart of 007 himself. I began to wonder if there was a better way to browse the Web.
www.mozilla.org/products/firefox
Firefox is the first browser to make Bill Gates nervous since Netscape Navigator went the way of the dodo. Cool features like a tabbed interface instead of multiple windows and a highly effective pop-up blocker make Firefox an excellent alternative.
www.opera.com
If you are looking for a small, fast browser with all of the features found in competing products, Opera may be worth a look. With low memory usage and blazing speed, Opera is an ideal browser for mobile devices and laptop users trying to conserve precious storage space.

Yes, you read it correctly. The dodo lives. Well, sort of. Netscape 8 more closely resembles Firefox than Navigator, but those wanting a middle ground between Firefox and Internet Explorer may find it interesting.
www.download.com
Don't want to take my word for it? Head over to download.com. This CNET site offers reviews of and links to all of the top browsers and related products.
Well, the download is complete and another crisis has been averted. Perhaps I will stick with Internet Explorer for now, but I will keep that Firefox address just in case I can't download a solution quickly enough next time around.
