Weblogs — or 'blogs' — are a hot topic these days. Businesses are realizing the potential of weblogs to keep in touch with customers. Weblogs are essentially diaries used to record events, thoughts, feelings, and even future plans. These sites will give you a better feel for what blogs are all about.

This Harvard Law School site is the homepage for a number of weblogs and features good descriptions of what blogs might contain.

This CIO article provides background on weblog uses such as enhancement of organizational memory, project management, and stakeholder communications. The downside of weblogs is also discussed. Errors, misleading information, and the always dreaded "inappropriate material" are a few of the topics covered.

This site is a good example of a business blog. The archives date back to January 2000 and although the site contains everything from motivational one-liners to cartoons, the content generally relates to organizational effectiveness.

This site contains links to information on weblogs. It also provides reviews of free weblog software available online.

If you still aren't sure what a blog is, take all the past issues of CyberGuide and visualize them in electronic form complete with links to all the sites we have visited over the years. Now date all the entries, add in indexing functions and presto, you have a weblog!
