Editor’s Note
Welcome to the New
CGA Magazine
FROM:
MAR-APR 2007 ISSUE | BY PEGGY HOMAN, EDITOR
A good strategy is invaluable. It underpins success in business, politics, education, sports, and is critical to development and prosperity in most aspects of modern life. Strategic goals, strategic plans, and strategic partnerships are common terms in the business lexicon, and with good reason – an effective strategy is the backbone of all successful ventures.
In fact, a well-honed strategy is the skeleton upon which a compelling magazine is built. For some time now,
CGA Magazine has been in need of a visit to the chiropractor – in other words, in need of a strategic renewal to strengthen and improve the editorial and the design. We decided to start with the design, and the changes you see have been in the works for a long time.
Given the significance of springtime as the season of renewal, the
March-April issue seemed a fitting time to launch a revitalized version of
CGA Magazine. And while many of you are working long hours to meet your clients’ tax needs (and CRA’s deadlines!), don’t miss our
Business feature where you’ll find tips on how to be a strategic thinker, and fascinating insight from one of Canada’s newest multi-millionaires,
Lakeport Brewing’s CEO Teresa Cascioli. The new
Passport section features another savvy strategist,
Conrad Hewitt, chief accountant of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
With the redesign complete, this issue marks a clear delineation in the evolution of
CGA Magazine. But the editorial work is just beginning, as we shift our attention to enhancing the content and developing ways to turn fresh ideas into interesting, informative, and relevant articles for you. As part of the magazine’s strategic plan, we have a renewed commitment to addressing issues of importance to the accounting profession – both in Canada and abroad.
Thanks for reading and watch for the continuous evolution of both the print and online versions of
CGA Magazine over the next year. I hope you enjoy this issue and find the changes we’ve made to be valuable improvements. As always, we welcome your feedback and ideas. Please take a moment to let us know what you think:
