Top 5 Small Business Security Threats

According to www.smallbiztrends.com, it’s not just big businesses that get hit by security breaches. Small companies are being targeted more frequently because they haven’t adequately protected themselves. Here’s what your business might be up against and what you can do about it.

  1. Malicious Code: Install anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, along with firewalls on all computers.
  2. Stolen Hardware: Encrypt all sensitive data on mobile devices in case they get lost or stolen.
  3. Spear Phishing: Educate employees to recognize phoney e-mails – particularly those requesting confidential information.
  4. Wi-Fi Break-ins: Apply password protection to all of your unsecured wireless networks.
  5. Disgruntled Employees: Limit access to sensitive information to only those who require it.
