Working Holiday

Summer’s over and it’s time to fess up: did you bring your work along with you on vacation? If so, you’re not alone. A reminder from the Canadian Payments Association that all businesses using Canadian cheques are required to update their cheques to meet new specifications by September 2, 2008. This follows an industry-wide initiative to enable high-quality image capture of cheques for digital transfer between financial institutions. Currently, nearly five million hard-copy cheques are transported between banks on a daily basis. For more information, go to www.cdnpay.ca.

Big Brainwaves

Sometimes your ideas are just too big to fit on a standard-sized Post-it Note. But before you go appending your notes end to end to create a giant mass (or mess), check out GeniusPads. At 30 cm x 30 cm they’re practically desk-sized. So they’ll never get lost amongst the clutter. And they stick, which is just what you want your best ideas to do. Order online at www.megasticky.com.

How Do You Rate?

Admit it: you’re curious what your colleagues really think about you. Well now you can find out using Monster’s new online evaluation tool. Invite your boss, co-workers, and friends to rate your strengths and weaknesses – if you dare – and see how you stack up against cross-country results. Participants are evaluated on eight qualities including knowledge, dedication, creativity, positivity, team play, level-headedness, organization, and communication skills. See how you rate at www.evalu8me.ca.
