FROM: MAY-JUN 2008 ISSUE | BY PEGGY HOMAN, EDITOR
We’ve taken a different approach with this issue of CGA Magazine, in that it features two articles put forward by readers rather than articles created through our standard editorial processes.
The Business feature, Debt in Disguise, takes a look at the timely topic of asset-backed securitization, and appears courtesy of CFO Magazine, an Economist Group publication. The Profession feature examines an innovative Canadian tax incentive program designed to assist progressive businesses achieve success, and was written by two FCGAs and a soon-to-be CGA.
CGA-Canada’s president and CEO Anthony Ariganello touches on the importance of innovation in his Reflections column, in which he discusses the defining characteristics and economic value of entrepreneurs. Other highlights of the Network section include details on the latest milestone event celebrating CGA’s 100 year anniversary.
This issue’s Business columns cover a range of topics. Ask an Expert takes a look at strategies for a smooth transition when your firm changes hands, while Further than Figures offers tips for young people just beginning their careers. Double Click provides an overview of what you can expect from the new features in Simply Accounting 2008.
In our Profession columns, you’ll find details on revisions to key standards, as well as information on the new Canada-United States tax treaty and what it means for cross-border transactions.
As always, thank you for your input. Let us know what you think of this issue.
