Celebrating Accomplishments and Change
|
FROM: NOV-DEC 2008 ISSUE | BY PEGGY HOMAN, EDITOR
As we move toward the end of 2008, CGA-Canada is about to mark the end of a year of celebration for CGA. Our 100th anniversary celebrations were a grand success and congratulations go out to the 100 CGAs who were honoured this year for making outstanding contributions to their communities. We also congratulate the 2008 FCGAs – see the special insert to find out who recently joined the distinguished group of fellow CGAs.
Meet an active member of the FCGA class of 2005: Tony Ducie is proud to be the first CGA-Canada Chair ever to hail from Saskatchewan. Over the next year, Ducie will lead a number of initiatives. Paramount among those is the implementation of the association’s new governance model. A key part of that transition will be working with a smaller board, the inaugural Affiliation Council, and a revised committee structure.
This issue’s Business feature looks at managing risk – a topic on many people’s minds these days, as the global economy has made unprecedented shifts in recent weeks. And while this article focuses on managing risks in emerging markets, some of the principles and lessons learned apply to many other situations as well.
Another item of note: Many of you participated in CGA Magazine’s recent readership survey. I’d like to extend my personal thanks to all survey respondents and congratulations to the winners of the prize draws. We will be acting on your feedback in 2009.
Best wishes for a joyous holiday season.
