Our areas of expertise include:

Standard Setting

  • Contributing to the development of accounting and auditing standards, both nationally and internationally.

  • Developing professional standards for admission into the profession through education standards, examination and experience requirements, and the development and enforcement of a national code of ethics

Member and student services

  • Supporting members and students by providing public practice tools and aids, setting continuing professional development requirements and providing CPD opportunities, and negotiating professional liability insurance rates for members in public practice.

Regulation

  • Ensuring members and students comply with standards as set out in the Code of Ethics and rules of Professional Conduct of the Association.

Advocacy and research

  • CGA-Canada conducts research into current issues relating to business, finance, and the accounting profession; commissions research papers by academics and other organizations; responds to exposure drafts issued by regulators and accounting associations; and makes submissions to government committees.

Governance

  • CGA-Canada and its provincial affiliates have vast experience in establishing by-laws and rules of order for a professional association of accountants.

  • CGA-Canada has considerable expertise in establishing and running the operations of a professional association of accountants through a board, committees, and chapters.

CGA-Canada would be pleased to share its expertise to assist organizations in other countries to develop their local accounting professions.
