CGA-Canada recognizes students for outstanding academic achievement at the education and certification levels of the program of professional studies through the Awards of Excellence.
Levels 1 through 4
The criteria for the awards are as follows:

Achieved the highest average of final marks at that level, the level to be determined by the Accounting (key) examinations;

Achieved a mark in the key examination that is within the top 10% of national examination results;

Passed at least two other examinations, one of which must be at the same level or higher than the key examination;

Passed all three examinations at the first time of writing;

Passed all three examinations in the same examination year (September to June);
-
Not been a recipient of another national award in the same academic year.
For courses with term marks, the final course mark will be the greater of the examination mark or the combined mark from the term work and the examination.
Key examinations for the CGA-Canada Awards of Excellence in the first four levels of the CGA program are:
- Level 1: Financial Accounting Fundamentals (FA1)
- Level 2: Financial Accounting: Assets (FA2)
- Level 3: Financial Accounting: Liabilities & Equities (FA3)
- Level 4: Advanced Management Accounting (MA2) or Accounting Theory & Contemporary Issues (AT1) or Financial Accounting: Consolidations & Advanced Issues (FA4)
Professional level
At the professional level, the award is granted to the CGA candidate who has completed all requirements for certification, obtained a standing of honours in either of the PA examinations, and achieved the highest average mark in two of the following PACE level examinations:
- Advanced External Auditing (AU2)
- Internal Auditing & Controls (MU1)
- Advanced Personal & Corporate Taxation (TX2)
- Information Systems Strategy (MS2)
- Advanced Corporate Finance (FN2)
- Accounting Theory & Contemporary Issues (AT1)
- Public Sector Financial Management (PF1)
In addition, candidates must have passed all PACE level examinations at the first time of writing.
